Clinical Studies and Case-Based Evidence
Our groundbreaking technology has been developed over the last 10+ years in collaboration with pediatric dentists, families and the scientific community. A select list of clinical and case studies is presented below.
Here’s What the Science Says:
According to the ADA, plaque is the root cause of tooth decay (cavities) and gum diseases.
Willo is designed to address the well-documented limitations of pediatric brushing, where developing dexterity and inconsistent technique lead to uneven plaque removal. By automating the process, Willo reduces user-dependent variability and supports more consistent plaque disruption than manual brushing alone.
Study 1 Summary
A rigorous clinical study tested Willo against a top-rated manual toothbrush approved by the American Dental Association. The results were clear: kids aged 5 to 13 who used Willo had significantly less plaque after just one brushing session.
On average, Willo removed 60% of plaque, compared to only 20–25% with a manual brush. It was especially effective in hard-to-reach spots — like the back of the mouth — removing up to 7 times more plaque than the manual toothbrush.

Study Summary
Download StudyAn early clinical evaluation of the Willo prototype brushing device was conducted to assess comfort, usability, plaque removal efficacy, and gingival safety. Five pediatric subjects participated. Pre- and post-brushing plaque levels demonstrated significant plaque removal across all participants, with an average index-based reduction exceeding 50%. The device was well tolerated and used successfully by all subjects.
